Silver Plume, Colorado
My favorite town in Colorado! It just has a feeling of home.

The People for Silver Plume, Inc. is a wonderful organization of the residents from this area with supporters all over the world. They help organize and find funding for restoration and preservation of Silver Plume and it's treasures. The area is rich in history and part of one of the oldest counties in Colorado.

Make time to stroll through the town of Silver Plume and stop in all the shops. The aroma from the Sopp & Truscott Bakery will draw you east on Main Street one can not help but be tempted. A delightful cup of tea and a special homemade treat at the Antiques & Tea House, a trip to the Museum, a beautiful hike on old mining trails, a cold refresher at Grumpy's or a special reminder later at home from Sopp & Truscott's Bakery, should help the big city blues or make your trip to Colorado just a little better. The Museum is at the west end of town on Main Street and the largest building in town. (See the link below for more info on Museum) A great place to start any trip to Silver Plume.

One of the most unique things about Silver Plume is the way the town has set up it's site tour. You don't have to have an appointment. You don't have to join a tour. All you really must do is park your vehicle and stroll through the town of Silver Plume to have one of the best historical tours in Colorado. Be sure and pick up your copy of the town brochure  at the Museum to make the most of your self guided tour or print it from the link below!

The Post Office was once the site of the Newspaper of Silver Plume the "Silver Standard". The first paper of the Silver Standard was Sept. 19, 1885. The Name before the "Silver Standard" was the "Jack Rabbit" newspaper. The Jack Rabbit ran from Aug 22 -  Sept. 12, 1885 Plaques on the buildings give you a little more info on the town's history.

The Eastern Terminus of The Loop Train ride is located in Silver Plume. Tickets available in Georgetown or Silver Plume. Sadly this may be the last year the Loop runs in Colorado. But we are hopeful this will not be the case in the end.

Hiking is one of the best reasons to visit Silver Plume. Check with the Museum for
Directions to the Argentine Central RR Grade and the Griffin Monument.
