This our favorite Museum in the Silver Belt. Just the building invites the imagination to wander!

Silver Plume lost their wooden school house in 1893, to the fire. The School Board commissioned
William Quayle a resident of Denver, to design a Romanesque brick building which served as
Silver Plume's School house until 1959. It now serves as a museum with exhibits of a 19th
century school room plus tons of other exhibits, tastefully displayed, of life in the early days of
Silver Plume.

Our favorite part of the Museum is the Classroom. It gives today's children a chance to look into the past
and see what children studied in the historical school house. Teachers and camp coordinators are welcome to call
for special tours for their classes to experience this unique journey backwards in time.

Continue your day in Silver Plume with a guided history walk of the town
or a more strenuous hike to some of the mines which still contain boilers,
compressors and a 12- hole outhouse.
Tours of an 1889 mine supervisors home also available by appointment.
